Northern Virginia Family Service’s (NVFS) breadth, depth, and scope of services offer the resources and support to ensure that everyone in need, at every stage of life, maximizes their potential and fully contributes to a thriving community. We provide the essential building blocks for financial, emotional, and physical well-being. Volunteers are needed on weekdays from 9 a.m.–12 p.m.

Training Futures is a nationally recognized workforce development program with proven results, providing training for living-wage professional careers. A volunteer Training Futures Mentor provides one-to-one support to a trainee throughout the 12-week training cycle to support the trainee’s learning and development needs, provide encouragement and assistance in completing their assignments.

SCSEP places mature workers in temporary paid community service training to prepare them for permanent employment outside the program. SCSEP allows participants to gain work experience. Participants are placed at non-profits and public facilities for temporary paid community service training for an average of 20 hours a week. They are paid a training stipend that is the highest of federal, state, or local minimum wage directly by SCSEP.
